Snug-It Pro camera skins provide complete protection for digital SLR cameras. Heavy duty for heavy use, they are custom molded for a glove-like fit. All buttons, dials, sensors and compartments are carefully molded over and around for a completely functional and rugged skin. Thicker silicone provides added protection and ridges molded into the skin allow for a better grip on the larger cameras. Whether you are a professional photographer or a first-time digital SLR buyer, Snug-it Pro skins are perfect for anyone looking for complete camera protection.

Delkin Snug It Pro Skin for the Canon 50D Digital SLR Camera – Black CustomerReview

I got the “Snug It Pro Skin” at the same time as my new 50D. I didn’t expect much, but figured it was worth trying since the camera was pretty expensive. The “skin” fit surprisingly well and didn’t affect the functions of the camera at all. The 50D is a pretty big camera, and the skin will add to the heft, but if you have big hands, it will help you grip the camera even better.

I don’t expect to have to remove the skin, and I think it will do a fine job minimizing scuffs and scratches (my old XT looks horrible, like someone used sandpaper on it). For example, this skin will definitely protect your camera from your fingernails when you grip it. Note that the camera body in the photo appears to be “silver”, so you can easily see where the skin covers the camera. There are plenty of exposed areas including the bottom of the camera, the top front, and the side where the memory card goes in, but again, this is to help with minor scratches and bumps, not to prevent major damage! Note the skin does *not* protect the lens in any way (I use a UV filter and a hood to try and protect the lens).

As with other similar products of this type, a common complaint is that the lettering on the skin (i.e. for button functions) is black on black, so it’s pretty hard to figure out the buttons in low light. If you know what all the buttons do, great. But if you’re a new user like me, it may take some guess-work to figure out which buttons do what.

Note, you need to put the skin on without the camera strap (you can put the strap on afterwards). It also comes with an LCD screen (like the ones you can use for mobile phones and iPods). Put it on first. The skin will also slide into your hotshoe, so when you’re not using a flash, it will help protect that too. All in all, I think the product isn’t cheap, but it’s definitely worth it.
